Canadian Economic Association Annual Meeting

- On June 9th and 10th, 2022, the Centre for the Study of Living Standards (CSLS), in collaboration with the Atlantic Institute for Policy Research (AIPR), hosted a workshop in Fredericton, New Brunswick entitled "The New Brunswick Economy: The Way Forward." The event featured keynote speeches from David Campbell (Jupia Consultants) and Tony Venables (Oxford University, University of Manchester) regarding the state and outlook of the New Brunswick Economy, as well as a series of panel sessions focusing on specific topics including sustainability, immigration, productivity, and innovation. Participants spanned a diverse set of backgrounds, with delegates and panelists representing stakeholders from across the province including social, governmental, academic, labour, and private sector organizations. - On June 3, 2022, the Centre for the Study of Living Standards (CSLS), in collaboration with the Progressive Economics Forum, hosted a panel session at the CEA 2022 annual conference entitled "Are Labour Shortages Really Constraining the Canadian Economy?" - The economic and fiscal crisis in Greece continues to deepen, with the outcome at this point unknown. One scenario sees Greece leaving the euro zone, with very serious implications for Europe. To shed light on this perilous situation, the Centre for the Study of Living Standards and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives have organized a luncheon on Tuesday, May 1st, 2012 with Richard Parker from Harvard University. From 2009 to 2011 he served as economic advisor to Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou, an experience that gives him a unique perspective on the Greek crisis. - Festschrift Dinner in Honour of Ian Stewart
On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the Centre for the Study of Living Standards honoured long-time CSLS Chair Ian Stewart and his distinguished professional career as an economic researcher and policy adviser with a dinner and festschrift volume. The dinner took place on Friday, September 16, 2011 in the Laurier Room at the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa. More information on the festschrift volume may be found here.

Tenth Anniversary of the Centre for the Study of Living Standards
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Centre for the Study of Living Standards, two panels and a reception were held on Friday, November 4, 2005 at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. The first panel was on policies to increase productivity in Canada and the second addressed policies to improve the economic well-being of Canadians.
