Ontario’s Productivity Performance, 2000-2012: A Detailed Analysis

Abstract

This report provides a detailed analysis of Ontario’s productivity performance over the 2000-2012 period. It examines trends in real GDP, labour input, capital inputs, labour productivity, capital productivity, and multifactor productivity at the business-sector level and by two-digit NAICS industries and three-digit manufacturing industries. The report also compares Ontario’s labour productivity performance with that of the United States and the Great Lake States, and investigates the drivers of productivity growth across sectors.
