Abstract

Based on an update to 2009 of the CSLS ICT database for Canada and the United States, this report provides an overview of developments in ICT investment in the business sector for both countries, focusing on the ICT investment gap. Nominal ICT investment in the Canadian business sector grew 0.6 per cent in 2009, outpacing the U.S. decline of 3.9 per cent. Despite this, Canada’s real ICT investment per worker remained well below the U.S. level, and the ICT investment per worker gap widened in real terms, reaching 49.6 per cent by 2009.
