The State of Economics in Canada: Festschrift in Honour of David Slater

Abstract

This volume celebrates the remarkable career of David Slater, which in the best Queen’s University tradition of John Deutsch and Clifford Clark spanned academia and public service, on the occasion of his 80th birthday. It follows the academic tradition of assembling, at an appropriate stage in the career of an eminent scholar, a volume in their honour containing the writings of colleagues. The nineteen contributions represent the state of the art of current thinking on Canadian economic policy, covering fiscal federalism, taxation, pensions, international economics, globalization, regional issues, environmental economics and labour economics — all fields dear to David Slater’s heart and to which he contributed. The volume was presented to David Slater at a dinner held in his honour at the Chateau Laurier Hotel, Ottawa, on October 19, 2001.
