Abstract
Résumé
On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the Centre for the Study of Living Standards honoured long-time CSLS Chair Ian Stewart and his distinguished professional career as an economic researcher and policy adviser with this festschrift volume. Released September 2011 and edited by Fred Gorbet and Andrew Sharpe, it contains papers from many of Canada’s leading economists and policymakers, including John Helliwell, David Dodge, Munir Sheikh, Don Drummond, Scott Clark, Christopher Ragan, Lars Osberg and Robin Boadway. Ian Stewart’s career was marked by a deep belief in the power of government to make life better and in the power of research and analysis to inform government policy; the volume takes that conviction as its organising theme, spanning macroeconomic policy, tax policy, health care, well-being and the state of public policy analysis in Canada.
