CSLS-Industry Canada Workshop: Productivity Issues in a Canadian Context

Abstract

An invitational CSLS-Industry Canada workshop structured around six commissioned review papers, each surveying the state of knowledge in one area of productivity research and each followed by a designated discussant: productivity trends and determinants in Canada (Erwin Diewert), innovation and productivity (Jeff Bernstein), investment and productivity (Ronald Giammarino), global linkages and productivity (John Ries), productivity in the new economy (Tom Wilson and Peter Dungan), and the social aspects of productivity (Lars Osberg). The workshop closed with a reception marking the launch of the International Productivity Monitor. The six review papers became chapters of Productivity Issues in Canada (May 2002).
