This report provides a detailed analysis of the productivity performance of New Brunswick’s manufacturing sector from 1997 to 2019. It examines labour productivity in terms of real value added and nominal value added per hour worked, competitiveness implications through unit labour costs, provincial comparisons, and industry-level productivity performance. Part Two focuses on explaining the post-2004 fall-off in New Brunswick manufacturing productivity through a growth accounting perspective and analysis of industry contributions to the productivity decline.

Ce rapport fournit une analyse détaillée de la performance de la productivité du secteur manufacturier du Nouveau-Brunswick de 1997 à 2019. Il examine la productivité du travail en fonction de la valeur ajoutée réelle et de la valeur ajoutée nominale par heure travaillée, les répercussions sur la compétitivité par l’entremise des coûts unitaires de main-d’œuvre, les comparaisons interprovinciales, ainsi que la performance de la productivité à l’échelle industrielle. La deuxième partie vise à expliquer le recul de la productivité manufacturière au Nouveau-Brunswick après 2004, à partir d’une perspective de comptabilité de la croissance et d’une analyse de la contribution des industries à ce déclin.
