Given the importance of ICT investment for productivity growth, these data are important for the comparative analysis and understanding of productivity growth by province. The objective of this report is to present the basic data on ICT investment and ICT investment per worker in Canada and the ten provinces over the 1981-2007 period. The first part of the report reviews the literature on why ICT investment is important for productivity. The second part examines ICT investment levels and trends by province. The third part decomposes the gap in ICT investment per worker by province, relative to the national average, into three effects: that related to income levels, to the total investment/GDP share, and to the ICT investment/total investment share. En 2008, Statistique Canada a publié pour la première fois des estimations de l’investissement en technologies de l’information et des communications (TIC) par province. Étant donné l’importance de l’investissement en TIC pour la croissance de la productivité, ces données sont importantes pour l’analyse comparative et la compréhension de la croissance de la productivité par province. L’objectif de ce rapport est de présenter les données de base sur l’investissement en TIC et l’investissement en TIC par travailleur au Canada et dans les dix provinces au cours de la période 1981-2007. La première partie du rapport recense la littérature expliquant pourquoi l’investissement en TIC est important pour la productivité. La deuxième partie examine les niveaux et les tendances de l’investissement en TIC par province. La troisième partie décompose l’écart d’investissement en TIC par travailleur par province, par rapport à la moyenne nationale, en trois effets : celui lié aux niveaux de revenu, celui lié à la part de l’investissement total dans le PIB, et celui lié à la part de l’investissement en TIC dans l’investissement total.
