The activity, however, represents an important aspect of a country’s material well-being. This research note contains a literature review on the different methods of valuing household production of non-market services. The research note also incorporates estimates of household production of non-market services for various OECD countries into the 2008 Index of Economic Well-Being (IEWB) to examine how it affects the countries’ ranking in the Index. We find that including estimates of household production of non-market services into the consumption flow portion of the 2008 IEWB for OECD countries reduces the gap in total consumption flows per capita between the United States and the other OECD countries. The relative ranking of countries according to consumption flows per capita in the 2008 IEWB for OECD countries changes slightly after the inclusion of household production of non-market services. À une exception notable près, la production de services non marchands produits et consommés par les ménages n’est actuellement pas incluse dans le Système de comptabilité nationale. Cette activité représente toutefois un aspect important du bien-être matériel d’un pays. Cette note de recherche comprend une recension de la littérature sur les différentes méthodes d’évaluation de la production non marchande des ménages. La note de recherche intègre également des estimations de la production non marchande des ménages pour divers pays de l’OCDE à l’Indice de bien-être économique (IBEE) de 2008, afin d’examiner son incidence sur le classement des pays selon l’indice. Nous constatons que l’inclusion d’estimations de la production non marchande des ménages dans la composante des flux de consommation de l’IBEE de 2008 pour les pays de l’OCDE réduit l’écart des flux de consommation totaux par habitant entre les États-Unis et les autres pays de l’OCDE. Le classement relatif des pays selon les flux de consommation par habitant dans l’IBEE de 2008 pour les pays de l’OCDE change légèrement après l’inclusion de la production non marchande des ménages.
