The current status and future outlook for employment and growth in the dominant sectors of Inuit Nunangat, namely the public sector and mining, are also examined. In addition, the effects of low education, limited skills, high living costs, reduced mobility, and insufficient housing, all common factors of life in Inuit Nunangat, are discussed. Finally, the report makes some broad recommendations for how the crisis in labour market and educational outcomes among the Inuit may be ameliorated, while identifying further areas of study that could help increase the understanding of Inuit Nunangat’s economic performance. Ce rapport documente les résultats sur le marché du travail, en matière d’éducation et de développement économique pour les Inuits de l’Inuit Nunangat, en examinant les résultats passés et présents du marché du travail et en les reliant à l’évolution des principales industries dans les quatre régions de l’Inuit Nunangat. La situation actuelle et les perspectives futures de l’emploi et de la croissance dans les secteurs dominants de l’Inuit Nunangat, à savoir le secteur public et l’exploitation minière, sont également examinées. De plus, les effets d’une faible scolarité, de compétences limitées, d’un coût de la vie élevé, d’une mobilité réduite et d’un logement insuffisant, tous des facteurs courants de la vie dans l’Inuit Nunangat, sont abordés. Enfin, le rapport formule des recommandations générales sur la façon d’atténuer la crise des résultats du marché du travail et de l’éducation chez les Inuits, tout en cernant d’autres pistes de recherche susceptibles d’approfondir la compréhension de la performance économique de l’Inuit Nunangat.
