Based on a thorough analysis, it presents 20 recommendations to improve the operation of LMI in Canada in the areas of LMI data, LMI analysis and forecasting, and LMI dissemination. For these recommendations to have traction, two conditions are needed. First, it is crucial that senior policy makers, that is those at the Deputy Minister and Ministerial level, recognize the important on an effective LMI system for a highperformance economy. Second, it is extremely important that jurisdictional issues do not become a barrier to the provision of high-quality LMI to the public. L’objectif de ce rapport, préparé pour le Groupe consultatif de haut niveau sur l’IMT, est de présenter des conseils sur les pratiques exemplaires en matière d’information sur le marché du travail (IMT) et des suggestions politiques pour améliorer le système d’IMT du Canada. À partir d’une analyse approfondie, il présente 20 recommandations pour améliorer le fonctionnement de l’IMT au Canada dans les domaines des données d’IMT, de l’analyse et des prévisions de l’IMT, et de la diffusion de l’IMT. Pour que ces recommandations aient une portée réelle, deux conditions sont nécessaires. Premièrement, il est essentiel que les hauts décideurs, c’est-à-dire ceux qui occupent des postes de sous-ministre et de ministre, reconnaissent l’importance d’un système d’IMT efficace pour une économie performante. Deuxièmement, il est extrêmement important que les enjeux de compétence ne deviennent pas un obstacle à la prestation d’une IMT de grande qualité au public.
