This review article examines the OECD’s 2003 report The Sources of Economic Growth in OECD Countries, which summarizes the findings of the OECD Growth Project. Key findings highlighted include: widening disparities in GDP per capita growth across OECD countries in the 1990s driven largely by differences in labour utilization; the importance of physical and human capital investment, sound macro policies, and trade openness for growth; the finding that a 10 percentage point increase in trade exposure raises output per person by 4 percentage points; and evidence from industry-level analysis on the role of firm dynamics and entry and exit in driving productivity growth.

Cet article de recension examine le rapport de l’OCDE de 2003 Les sources de la croissance économique dans les pays de l’OCDE, qui résume les conclusions du Projet de croissance de l’OCDE. Parmi les principaux constats mis en lumière figurent : le creusement des disparités dans la croissance du PIB par habitant entre les pays de l’OCDE dans les années 1990, principalement attribuable à des différences dans l’utilisation de la main-d’œuvre; l’importance de l’investissement physique et en capital humain, de politiques macroéconomiques saines et de l’ouverture au commerce pour la croissance; la constatation qu’une augmentation de 10 points de pourcentage de l’exposition au commerce accroît la production par habitant de 4 points de pourcentage; et des données issues d’une analyse sectorielle sur le rôle de la dynamique des entreprises et de l’entrée et de la sortie dans la stimulation de la croissance de la productivité.
