This article compares the development of labour productivity in the Swedish and the Finnish business sectors and the role of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in this process. The results show that the Finnish productivity level has been converging towards the Swedish level, but that there is still a significant difference. This trend has coincided with the growing importance of the ICT sector, especially since the mid 1990s. Due to higher productivity and employment growth, the Finnish ICT sector has contributed to this convergence. This is explained by the electrical engineering industry. Cet article compare le développement de la productivité du travail dans les secteurs des entreprises suédois et finlandais et le rôle du secteur des technologies de l’information et des communications (TIC) dans ce processus. Les résultats montrent que le niveau de productivité finlandais convergeait vers le niveau suédois, mais qu’il subsiste encore une différence significative. Cette tendance a coïncidé avec l’importance croissante du secteur des TIC, en particulier depuis le milieu des années 1990. En raison d’une productivité et d’une croissance de l’emploi plus élevées, le secteur finlandais des TIC a contribué à cette convergence. Cela s’explique par l’industrie du génie électrique. L’effet Nokia a été plus fort que l’effet Ericsson.
