Ian Currie
Senior Research Associate
Ian Currie is a senior research associate at the CSLS. During 2008, Mr. Currie was retained by the Canadian Competition Policy Review Panel to contribute analysis and writing for the Panel’s June 2008 report “Compete to Win", by Canada’s Science, Technology and Innovation Council to provide various policy research services, and by Natural Resources Canada provide research and management consulting services for the Canadian Mining Innovation Council.
Over recent years, Mr. Currie has provided policy research services to such other federal government organizations as the Minister of Industry’s Telecommunications Policy Review Panel, the Prime Minister’s Advisory Council on Science and Technology, Industry Canada, Health Canada, and Public Works and Government Services Canada.
Mr. Currie was formerly a senior policy analyst with Industry Canada (1998-2000) and the Canadian Department of Finance (1993-1998). He was Director of Research for Strategico Inc. between 1990 and 1993. Between 1986 and 1988, he was a member of the Canadian negotiating team for the Canada- US free trade negotiations.
Mr. Currie received his Honours BA in history from the University of Toronto in 1980 and his MA in Public Administration from Carleton University in 1983. He earned a certificate in international studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1997.
Mr. Currie has received a number of professional awards and citations that underline his continuing record of outstanding achievement in providing credible and evidence-based research, analysis and advice in support of Canadian public policy excellence and positive results for Canadians.
